Through the development and application of highly specialised technology based on the ETCS level 2 signalling standard, Ansaldo STS has worked with Rio Tinto to engineer and deploy a train control solution for Rio Tinto’s remote iron ore rail operations in north-west Western Australia.

The amount of Ansaldo STS scope of work is about EURO 336 million. Ansaldo STS has also been awarded of a contract worth EURO 40 million by RFI (Rete Ferroviaria Italiana) for the supply of ACC and ACC-M signalling equipment.

    Ansaldo STS through its subsidiary Ansaldo STS Malaysia Sdn Bhd, partner of the Ansaldo STS Pestech consortium1, has been awarded a project contract for the signalling of the 198km track that extends between Gemas to Johor Bahru in southern Malaysia. The contract for Ansaldo STS portion is worth approx. MYR 264 million, approx. EUR 55 million.

    Ansaldo STS, as Leader of FLOW consortium, has signed the contract related to the operation and maintenance services of Lines 3, 4, 5 and 6 of Riyadh Metro. The contract covers a period of 12 years including the mobilization period, and has a total value to the FLOW Consortium of 10.9 billion Saudi Arabian Riyals, equal to 2.9 billion USD. Ansaldo STS’ share is equal to about 1 billion USD.

    On December 6, 2018 "Saturno Consortium for the construction of railway works with high technological content for the Italian high-speed railway system" - following the contract signed with the CEPAV Due Consortium, General Contractor responsible for the design and construction of the HS/HC (High Speed and High Capacity) Brescia Est - Verona railway line, has awarded to Ansaldo STS SpA, as consortium member, part of the technological works for the abovementioned high speed line. The Ansaldo STS scope of work is worth approximately Euro 98 million, out of a total of approximately Euro 272 million for the Saturno Consortium.

    Ansaldo STS has been awarded a procurement procedure, within a framework agreement, worth of 65 million Euros. The agreement scope of work includes reconfiguration and upgrading of Ansaldo STS systems in revenue service on RFI network, mainly related to the technologies: RBC, SCC/SCCM, ACC/ACCM, SSA, SCMT-T and CTC EVO.

    On 30th Janury  after the Public Tender Offer  launched by Hitachi, Ansaldo STS became fully owned by Hitachi and delisted from the Italian Stock Exchange.
