He currently acts as a Business Unit President of Americas, Asia-Pacific and as a Chairman of Ansaldo STS Australia at Ansaldo STS.
An Electronics Engineer, Michele has extensive experience and knowledge of automation systems applied to Industry in Power generation, and transport automation including airport and postal, and has senior program management experience in turn key projects for industrial plants including automation systems.
Since joining Ansaldo STS in 2011, Michele has overseen different roles, He was initially responsible for Australian business turnaround and managed to restore the corporate balance both by cutting costs down and establishing a different market position thus assuring as Business Unit President Freight (since 2013) the successful delivery of the automated train management system for Rio Tinto’s autonomous heavy haul mining railway in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, as well as the successful acquisition and delivery of the satellite-based signalling and communications solution recently commissioned by Roy Hill Iron Ore.
He started working at Elsag Datamat (former Elsag, Finmeccanica Group Company) in 2003,entrusted with increasingly higher responsibility levels until he was appointed chief director of the Logistic, Security and Intelligent Transport Automation Business Unit.
He has gained extensive experience and knowledge of automation systems across different industries such as power generation, pharmaceutical and petrolchemical production, postal and airport automation, acting as a Program Manager firstly at Bailey Controls (1992-1994) based in United States then in Elsag Bailey (1994-1997) and, then at ABB (1997-1999). Next, he moved to the cable industry and worked at Pirelli, where he was appointed Manager in charge of the Green Field Project (which entailed building a new factory for optic fibre production) and, then, Procurement Director at Pirelli Submarine and Pirelli Cavi & Sistemi.
He started his professional career at the Bailey Controls Company (USA); a company specialized in automated industrial processes.
He graduated in Electronic Engineering in 1989.
