Ansaldo STS secures long-term partnership agreement with New South Wales (Australia) Government

Ansaldo STS, a Finmeccanica Company, signed an agreement with New South Wales (Australia) Government to establish a rail Signalling and Technology Centre in Newcastle. The agreement directly involves Union Switch & Signal Pty. (US&S), the Australian subsidiary of Ansaldo STS and was signed in Rome by Roberto Gagliardi, CEO of Ansaldo STS and Mr. Morris Iemma, Premier of New South Wales (capital Sydney), the oldest, most heavily industrialized and densely populated Australian State.
The new Signalling and Technology Centre in Newcastle will provide a EUR 2.2 million investment creating 115 jobs and establishing the Australian “Hunter Valley” as a key hub for developing rail sector technology. This high-tech infrastructure will involve railway signalling, train control systems and communications infrastructure, as well as supporting Union Switch and Signal’s other Australian operations and export activities to markets including South East Asia, India and Africa.
