The Board of Directors of Ansaldo STS SpA (STS.MI), which met today under the chairmanship of Alessandro Pansa, has approved the first-half results to 30 June 2012, and confirmed its guidance for the current year.
RESULTS FOR THE FIRST HALF 2012
Revenues for the half-year totalled EUR 568.5 million, broadly unchanged versus the figure of EUR 569.2 million for the first half of 2011 (-0.1%).
EBIT went to EUR 50.6 million, from EUR 52.2 million in 1H11 (-3.1%), mainly due to higher non-recurring costs.
The Group’s return on sales (EBIT margin) was 8.9%, from 9.2%. achieved in the corresponding period of 2011.
By business sector, the Signalling Unit generated revenues of EUR 334.2 million, from the EUR 351.4 million reported for the same period last year, while EBIT totalled EUR 34.8 million, versus EUR 36.3 million for the first half of 2011; the Transportation Solutions Unit closed the six months with revenues of EUR 242.4 million, versus EUR 226.2 million in the same period of 2011, while EBIT was EUR 25.1 million, compared with EUR 21.1 million posted in the same period of 2011.
In the first half of 2012, the Ansaldo STS Group recorded net profit of EUR 29.7 million, compared to EUR 32.1 million on the same period last year (-7.5%).
Investment in research and development totalled EUR 16.2 million.
